HOW TO VOLUNTEER

Volunteering is a fantastic way to contribute to your local community’s well being and develop meaningful relationships with young people who have a disability and their families. It’s also a great way to gain extraordinary life experiences, whilst having fun and meeting like minded people.

Volunteers can be people from all walks of life, young, older, couples or singles, with or with out children… anyone over 18 years would be considered. Younger volunteers may be suitable for particular programs.

The suitability of prospective volunteers is assessed by the local Interchange staff. This screening process generally includes:

  • Interviews
  • Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Reference Checks
  • Health Check
  • Home visits (Host Program volunteers only)

Volunteers do not require any previous experience in caring for a child who has a disability. Ongoing support and training is provided. Volunteers are covered by insurance while they are caring for a child within the Interchange programs.

Volunteering in the Host program with Interchange can be one day per month, over a year... Just 12 Days! So can you spare a few hours, a day or an overnight stay?
