OUR AMBASSADORS
Adrian Richardson
Adrian Richardson is in his element at the moment, after 12 successful years of owning and operating his Award Winning La Luna Bistro, a new book launched in late 2008, co-hosting the hit series "Boys Weekend", which now airs in over 100 countries worldwide, and finishing his first solo TV series "Secret Meat Business", he is having the time of his life. Adrian also appeared in a Guest Chef Challenge and Finale episodes of the extraordinarily successful series "MasterChef Australia".
So what motivates a person who has gained his pilots' license at 16, and whose father was also a pilot, to change tack mid stream and become a Chef? An inherited passion for cooking from his Grandfather could be one explanation, but whatever the reason, Melbourne and its food scene, were the fortunate ones. Adrian has a simple philosophy with his food, which he calls "modern Mediterranean", and that is to use the freshest ingredients and keep it simple.
Although some would think Adrian has enough on his plate, he is excited to help raise community awareness about people with a disability and their carers and will be the Ambassador for The Great Australian Sunny Sizzle campaign. The Sunny Sizzle campaign aims to bring people together over a BBQ to talk about and gain a greater understanding of disability which will help to create a more inclusive community for everyone. After watching the journey that his family went through to get the best possible care for his brother who has an acquired brain injury, Adrian is using his passion for food to make the Sunny Sizzle the biggest disability awareness campaign in Australia!
Katrina Webb
Katrina Webb is recognised and acknowledged for her unique athleticism and outstanding success as a Paralympic athlete. When Katrina was 18, on a netball scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport, she discovered that a weakness on her right side was a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. Something she had known since birth, but because she was not sure what it was and it is not obvious, she found it easier to hide. With the discovery of her CP, Katrina realized that she was eligible to compete at the Paralympic Games.
At her first Paralympic Games in Atlanta Katrina won two Gold Medals and a Silver medal, at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games Katrina had the honour of being the first torchbearer to enter the Olympic Stadium for the opening ceremony and went on to win two Silver medals and a Bronze Medal. Athens Paralympic Games saw Katrina win another Gold medal for the 400m sprint and set a new Paralympic Record. Katrina's success on the track has made her one of Australia's top performing Paralympic athletes.
One of Katrina's biggest rewards in her life has been to learn how to overcome her disability, love her uniqueness and celebrate her difference. With her natural positive attitude, a love for new challenges and excellent people skills Katrina is a perfect Ambassador for Interchange!
